New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday released a ‘tentative list’ of the agenda for Parliament’s special session from September 18 to 22. The tentative agenda included two bills -The Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023, The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023 – to be taken up in the Lok Sabha, both passed in the Rajya Sabha on August 3.
Rajya Sabha MPs will discuss The Post Office Bill, 2023, and The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service, and Term of Office) Bill, 2023, both introduced in the Rajya Sabha on August 10.
There is no mention of the ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill, in the tentative list shared by the Centre today.
There is also no mention of a resolution to rename India as Bharat.
A discussion will be held on the subject ‘Parliamentary Journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha – Achievements, Experiences, Memories and Learnings”, as per the government’s notice.
Notably, the government has called an all-party meeting on September 17, a day before the special session of Parliament begins. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that invitations had been sent through e-mail to all leaders of opposition parties to attend the meeting.
The special session of Parliament, from September 18 to 22, was announced by the Pralhad Joshi on August 31.
