Bhubaneswar: Governor Ganeshi Lal on Friday praised the Odisha government for launching a slew of ambitious projects.
Addressing the first-day Budget session of the State Assembly, he said the Chief Minister, after the devastation caused by Cyclone Fani, the government has approved 15 projects at an estimated cost of Rs 2308 crore to develop Puri into a world-class heritage city under the ABADHA (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme for an aesthetically appealing, accessible, informative and secured environment.
Apart from this, six more projects at an estimated cost of Rs 900 crore under this scheme have been planned to be taken up in subsequent phases. The six projects are Badadanda Street Facade improvement project (Rs 250 crore), Development of Pleasure Garden of the Lord (Rs 80 crore), Beach Road Development and Extension (Rs 180 crore), Development of Other Heritage road (Rs 360 crore), Gundicha Mandir Project (Rs 5 crore) and Gurukula Project (Rs 25 crore).
The Governor also referred to the upcoming projects and events to be launched and organized by the state government.
—Underground cabling of high tension (HT) and Extra High Tension (EHT) power line to create a disaster-resilient power system in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
—A pilot project of beach front on Puri-Konark Marine Drive, Gopalpur and Talasari-Udaypur.
—Development of water infrastructure for houseboat operations at various locations.
—Organise a series of national and international sporting events like Hero Super Cup ISL Football Tournament, All India Khelo India University Games, FIH Hockey Pro League, FIFA U-17 Girls Football World Cup and 25th National Sports Climbing Championship.
—Kalinga International Sports City project in Bhubaneswar for professional coaching in shooting, archery, swimming
—Construction of synthetic turf for hockey in 17 blocks of Sundargarh district.
—Construction of international standard aquatic sports complex in Bhubaneswar.
—Satellite stadium in Berhampur, Sambalpur, Cuttack and Rourkela and integrated stadium in district headquarters.
