Bhubaneswar: Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many dignitaries and political leaders cutting across party lines paid their last respects to Health Minister Naba Kishore Das at his official residence in Odisha capital on Monday.
The minister had succumbed to bullet injuries at a private hospital the previous day after being shot at by a policeman at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district.
The Governor and the CM consoled members of the bereaved family.

The deceased minister was also accorded State Honour. Later, the minister’s body was taken to the BJD party office where hundreds of people paid tributes to the departed soul. His mortal remains will be taken in a chopper to his native place in Jharsuguda for cremation, where he will be accorded a funeral with state honours.

On Sunday, the Odisha government announced a three-day state mourning from January 29 to January 31 as a mark of respect for the late minister. “The national flag will be flown at half-mast on the day of death in the state capital and on the day of funeral at the place where it takes place,” the notification said.
