New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has allowed the sale of electric vehicles (EVs) without batteries.
Batteries constitute 30-40 per cent of the total cost of EVs. Some makers lease out the batteries which reduces the upfront cost.
However, it is not clear how FAME subsidies will be calculated, which till now has been calculated on battery capacity.
