Bhubaneswar: A ‘Seva Setu’ campaign will be held across Odisha from October 1 to 10 to facilitate easy and swift access to government services and welfare schemes for eligible citizens.
The initiative is part of the ongoing ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign, being observed from September 17 to October 17 to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra is the state coordinator.
As part of the ‘Seva Setu’ initiative, citizens will be able to obtain information about various Central and state government schemes and services and receive assistance with registration, application submission and other formalities at a single location.
The objective is to identify eligible citizens and connect them with schemes and services for which they qualify. ‘Seva Setu’ camps will be held at the block level in each Assembly constituency.
Officials at the camps will assist citizens in registering as beneficiaries and completing application procedures wherever required. The initiative is aimed at reducing the need for people to make repeated visits to different government offices to access welfare benefits.
Additionally, ‘Seva Setu Kendras’ will be established in every block and Assembly constituency to provide information and assistance on government schemes, services and facilities under one roof. The centres will also facilitate registration, application submission and other related processes.
A detailed programme calendar has been prepared for each Assembly constituency and block. The government has also made arrangements for the appointment of nodal officers, preparation of databases of eligible beneficiaries, inter-departmental coordination and deployment of necessary manpower and logistics.
The campaign will focus on identifying eligible beneficiaries and ensuring that government schemes and essential services reach them in a timely and transparent manner. Citizens will also receive guidance on the relevant schemes, verification procedures and approval processes.
Mahapatra said the initiative was aimed at intensifying public outreach and ensuring that welfare benefits reach the last person in society.
The campaign was intended to create a sustained culture of public service and strengthen people’s participation in development, he said.
Citizens will be able to access information, registration facilities, application support and other assistance relating to various government schemes and services through the ‘Seva Setu’ camps and centres.
