New Delhi: Muslim Conference J-K (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference J-K (Bhat faction) were on Wednesday declared as banned groups by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for being anti-India which were spreading pro-Pakistan propaganda.
“Striking terror networks with undiminished vehemence the government has declared the Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir (Bhat faction) as Unlawful Associations. These outfits have been engaging in activities against the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. PM Narendra Modi’s government is determined to uproot terrorism and anyone involved in unlawful activities will face dire consequences,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated in a post on X.
The Sumji faction, led by Ghulam Nabi Sumji, has been implicated for supporting terrorist activities and offering logistical assistance to terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir. Failure to promptly address unlawful activities of this faction by the government may result in the perpetuation of anti-national actions that pose a threat to the country’s territorial integrity, security and sovereignty, the Home Ministry said.
In a similar notification, the MHA said that the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Bhat faction), under the leadership of Abdul Ghani Bhat, has been deemed unlawful due to its involvement in sourcing funds from various channels, including Pakistan and its proxy organisations for “perpetrating unlawful activities, including supporting terrorist activities, sustained stone-pelting on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir”.
