Bhubaneswar: Following allegations of bribery, the state government has decided to constitute committees in block, district and state levels to curb corruption in government offices.
Chairing a crucial meeting at the secretariat here on Monday, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said, “The committees, comprising vigilance officers, will examine the efforts being made in districts and blocks to improve transparency in various schemes. The officials concerned have been asked to sensitize the panchayat members and block-level officials about the consequences of corruption,” he said.
The chief minister also asked the officials to ensure that benefits of various healthcare and housing schemes reach the poor.
Earlier in the day, a five-member team of the BJP state unit met income tax commissioner and demanded an inquiry into the alleged discrepancies in the data regarding poll expenditure of the BJD.
