Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has constituted a task force on formation of Southern Odisha Development Council (SODC).
Stating this in the Assembly on Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the government’s move aimed at including all sections of society in the development process of the state.
The chief minister said the task force would submit its report to the government within 30 days of its formation. “It will give its suggestions on the procedure for formation of the SODC, its structure, and working style. Besides, it would opine on which districts and blocks would be included in the Council,” he added.
The task force would be headed by School and Mass Educaton Minister Nityanand Gond. Its members included Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Gokulananda Mallik, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Kandhamal MP Sukant Kumar Panigrahi, Digapahandi MLA Siddhant Mohapatra, Malkangiri MLA Narasingh Madkami, Paralakhemundi MLA Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi, Phulbani MLA Uma Charan Mallik and Pattangi MLA Ramchandra Kadam.
Besides, the task force has three ex-officio members including RDC (Southern Division), RDC (Central Division) and managing director of Western Odisha Development Council (WODC).
