Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to create international infrastructure at Kalinga Stadium here for players during the upcoming Hockey World Cup-2018, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said on Monday
Chairing a preparatory meeting on the Men’s Hockey League and Men’s Hockey Final-2018, Padhi said, “Special emphasis will be on providing better accommodation to the players and their fans and widening of the stadium road. Besides, plans are afoot to change the stadium layout by setting up two new galleries, a food court and one recreation centre.”
International Hockey Federation Chief Executive Officer Elena Norman, who was also present in the meeting, expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by Odisha government.
As many as eight teams would participate in the Hockey League scheduled to be played between December 1 and 10. Similarly, a total of 16 teams will take part in the Hockey World Cup-2018.
The meeting was attended by Police Commissioner YB Khurania and senior officials of sports department.
