The Government of India is reportedly considering lowering toll charges for electric vehicles (EVs) in order to incentivise the adoption of cleaner technology.
According to a report in the Economic Times, the Road Transport and Highways Ministry is working on a new toll policy that might exempt EVs from toll fare or give discounts of up to 50 per cent at select toll gates.
There could be a partial toll waiver for the next five years, the report said.
India aims to sell only EVs from 2030, a target that many experts are skeptical about.
