Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure proactive and coordinated steps to facilitate standardised healthcare for patients in different COVID Care facilities in the state, the Health and Family Welfare department on Wednesday issued an advisory to the Deans and Principals of the government medical colleges.
In an official order, the department has directed the heads of the medical colleges to coordinate with the technical teams which will visit the COVID hospitals. They have been asked to make a weekly schedule for technical teams tied to the respective medical colleges to visit COVID hospitals. They are also authorised to utilise the services of the faculties not included in the technical committee, if the need arises.
They have to share the schedule with District Magistrates and Collectors who have been advised to ensure the presence of an Authorised Medical Officer (AMO) during the visit of the technical team.
The technical teams will review and monitor IPC protocols for sanitization, food, dead body disposal, and other arrangements in the COVID treatment facilities. They will also interact with the patients to get their inputs.
They will discuss with the treating members regarding patient care and the use of new drugs and plasma therapy to bring down COVID-19 fatality. They may suggest remedial measures for any lapses, the department’s order stated.
