Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to impart online refresher training to professors of the state universities. The government is in contact with Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, and Jadavpur University, Kolkata in this regard.
According to the official letter written to the universities, the Higher Education department has proposed to provide online teaching to the teachers on the subjects they have expertise.
“We will provide the training fees to the outside prominent universities. The teachers of our state will get online refresher courses at their home,” said Saswat Mishra, secretary Higher Education department.
Though refresher training is beneficial for both the teachers and students, the professors face difficulties in availing leave for taking the offline refresher course, he said. The initiative aims at solving the problem, he added.
Welcoming the government’s decision, Golak Nayak, convenor of Professors’ Joint Forum said it is a remarkable step. It will help the teachers and also benefit the students, he added.
