Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has withdrawn all restrictions and penalties related to COVID that were imposed since the pandemic broke out in the state in 2020.
In an official notification released on Saturday, the Information and Public Relations department said in view of substantial decline in COVID-19 cases in the state over the past several months, the government has repealed the Odisha COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 as amended from time to time with immediate effect.
In its official handle in the Twitter, the department said the COVID restrictions and penalties on gatherings, wearing masks, spitting, etc have been withdrawn.
However, it advised the people to follow COVID appropriate behavior voluntarily, as and when need arises.
It may be noted that the government had brought the regulations in order to arrest the spread of pandemic which took the entire state under its grip during the peak period. According to official figures, 9,204 people have died of the disease since its outbreak in April, 2020.
