Bhubaneswar: A male teacher of a government high school in Bhubaneswar tested positive for COVID-19.
Although this incident had taken place a week ago, the School and Mass Education Department had not revealed the matter.
Reliable sources said that as the teacher of a government high school in the IRC Village had flu symptoms since February 12, he was asked to undergo the test and tested positive for the virus on February 19.
Acting on the test report, the school authorities closed classes IX and X for two days on February 20 and 21 and asked the teacher to remain on leave.
Informing the media, the school authorities said that the parents and guardians need not panic as the entire school campus including all classrooms, teachers’ common room and office room of the headmistress have been sanitised for two days and classes will resume as usual from Monday.
