Govt Taking Care Of Migrant Workers Stranded In Odisha: Subroto Bagchi

Bhubaneswar: The state government has made necessary arrangements for migrant workers from other states, who are stranded in Odisha due to the countrywide lockdown in the wake of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Giving this information at a press briefing here on Tuesday, the state government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi said that around 56,926 migrant works from various states of the country have been housed in 1882 camps where they have been provided with food and other basic amenities.

He said that to receive any complaint from these migrant workers, the state government has opened Shramik Sahayata Call Centre-18003456703 to promptly address their grievance.

Bagchi also said that a total of 3,25,683 destitute and helpless persons in 5268 Gram Panchayats and 27,058 persons in 108 urban local bodies (ULBs) have been provided with food during the lockdown period.
