Bhubaneswar: With heatwave continuing unabated, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Thursday said the state government will take a decision on reopening of educational institutions depending on the condition on April 30.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, the minister said the government had announced closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutions till April 30 considering heatwave condition. If the condition persists, the government will take a call accordingly, he added.
“We have information that the heatwave may continue for three more days after April 30. We will decide on extension of the temporary closure of the educational institutions after reviewing the IMD forecast and the guidelines of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC),” Dash said.
However, online classes of the students are going to ensure that their study is not affected, he added.
It may be noted that as many as 24 places across the state recorded temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more with mercury going up to 44 degree in 4 places on Wednesday.
