Bhubaneswar: The state government on Tuesday said it is prepared to face the COVID situation though the infection is spreading slowly.
Speaking to media persons, Bijay Mohapatra, director, Health Services said compared to other states, the spread of COVID transmission has started late in Odisha and may increase in the coming days.
He said when infection figure was low in the last few months, Khurda district accounted for nearly 50% of total cases in the state and the rate has been sustained now. But Sambalpur and Sundargarh have witnessed a surge in the latest phase. Other districts may also witness the surge in coming days, he added.
However, the government is prepared to fight the pandemic and if required, new guidelines will be issued, Mohapatra said adding that like previous phases, the people should follow the government protocols like wearing face masks and avoiding crowding in public places.
