Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday inaugurated a bridge in Jhumpura of Odisha’s Keonjhar during his three-day visit to the district.
The bridge over a canal on Jhumpura-Ukhunda road will connect Jhumpura with Shrirampur. Around 10,000 population of the area will benefit from the bridge which has a length of 67 metre with an approach road of 175 metre.
Speaking to the media at the inaugural function, the chief minister said his government was giving top priority to development of Keonjhar in all sectors including education, health and economy.
In a step in this regard, he said the state government would sign an agreement for setting up a mega steel plant in the district during Utkarsh Odisha programme to be held in Bhubaneswar on January 28 and 29.
Earlier in the day, Majhi arrived at Raisuan airstrip in a special aircraft to take part in Makar Sankranti celebration in his home district.
He took a holy dip in the Baitarani river at Anasuya Ghat in Patana where elaborate arrangements were made to welcome him with traditional fanfare. He then offered prayers at Parameswar Temple.
