Nabarangpur: The state government’s air health services, Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva, was started in Nabarangpur district on Friday.
As part of the services under the scheme, a team of specialists in various medical fields from Bhubaneswar flew to Nabarangpur in a helicopter. The team comprised Dr Datteswar Hota of Urology, Dr Chittaranjan Panda of Gastroenterology, Dr Biswajit of Cardiology, Dr Banabihari Mishra and Dr Khageswar Rout.
They started treatment of the patients who had registered at the district headquarters hospital. Total 218 patients from the district have registered for availing of treatment. The specialist surgeons will also conduct surgery on five patients.
Nabarangpur CDMO Dr Kaliprasad Behera said they will decide next course of treatment of the patients after discussion with the team members. The team is scheduled to return to Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
It may be noted that chief minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the scheme to take health services to people of remote areas of the state in December last year. It aims at providing the service of medical experts and specialists to the people of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada in the first phase.
On April 8, the Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva was started in Nuapada district with a team of seven super specialist doctors arriving at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) there in the helicopter.
