Bhubaneswar: The under-construction convention centre of Odisha government, Kalamandal, has been targeted to be completed within 4 months.
5T and Aama Odisha Nabin Odisha chairman VK Pandian visited the Kalamandal near Sainik School in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
During review of the project, he directed the managing director of Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), which is constructing the Kalamandal for the Odia Language Literature & Culture Department, to complete the works in 4 months.
The 5T chairman also suggested to design the interior of the Kalamandal keeping in view the aesthetics of Odisha’s culture and heritage by teaming up with Culture department. Once completed, Kalamandal with 2000 seating capacity will be the largest convention centre of the state government.
Pandian also visited the place where Akhyara Bhoomi work has been undertaken by the Works Department. The Akhyara Bhoomi will commemorate the 1st World Odia Language Conference to be held in Bhubaneswar from February 3 to 5.
A commemorative arch reflecting the Kalingan style of architecture in Khondalite stone will adorn the Akhyara Bhoomi. It will be an attraction point for the youth reminding them about the rich heritage of classical Odia language.
It was also decided to have space for future expansion of the building and leave the basement for parking for visitors to the cultural convention centre. 5T Chairman also suggested to plant trees in the space so that the entire campus looks green and install eco-friendly elements.
