Bhubaneswar: The decision of the Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ground the Boeing 737-MAX in the wake of the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines killing 149 passengers and crew on board on March 10, will not affect the passenger traffic in Bhubaneswar.

“The Boeing 737-MAX flight is not operated from this airport. The three airlines, GoAir, IndiGo and AirAsia operating from this airport use the Airbus A320 aircraft,” Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport, Suresh Chandra Hota, told mediapersons here on Wednesday.

It may be noted that SpiceJet and Jet Airways operate Boeing 737 Max in India.

The DGCA, in a release on Wednesday, had said that these planes will be grounded till appropriate modifications and safety measures are undertaken to ensure their safe operation. “As always, passenger safety remains our top priority. We continue to consult closely with regulators around the world, airlines and aircraft manufacturers to ensure passenger safety,” the release added.
