Group Clash Leaves 4 Injured In Odisha’s Puri, Thatched House Torched


Puri: At least four people were injured in a violent clash between two groups at Uttaran Math Sahi under Chandanpur police station of Odisha’s Puri district on Tuesday, triggering tension in the area.

A thatched house was also set on fire during the clash after which security was tightened in the area with deployment of adequate police force.

According to information, a dispute between two opposing groups quickly escalated into violence, with members of both sides allegedly pelting stones at each other. At least four persons sustained injuries in the incident, sources said.

Amid violence, a crowd reportedly set a thatched house on fire, further aggravating the situation and creating panic among local residents.

After receiving information about the clash, senior police officials, including the Chandanpur Inspector-in-Charge and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, rushed to the spot. They intervened to pacify the groups and restore normalcy in the area.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Puri SP said strict legal action will be taken against those found involved in the clash.
