Jajpur: Tension prevailed at Jakhapura of Odisha’s Jajpur district due to a violent clash between two rival groups on Friday.
According to sources, a businessman was constructing a shop on a piece of government land at Rabana under Jakhapaura police station for some days. Some local people opposed him on the ground that the construction was being made on government land and told him to stop the work. But the businessman did not heed them
While he was present at the construction site and was supervising the work being done by the workers, the opposing locals arrived there and an argument ensued. The locals beat up the trader and left the place.
Later, the shop owner accompanied by his supporters went in search of the assailants. He found 2-3 of them at Rabana square and attacked them. As other locals tried to protect, a violent clash ensued. One person was injured and admitted in a hospital at Danagadi.
On being informed, a team from Jakhapura police station went to the spot and sent the injured person to the hospital at Danagadi.
