Jharsuguda: A constable and driver of Jharsuguda Government Railway Police (GRP) were dismissed from service on Sunday for allegedly transporting ganja in a GRP vehicle in Rengali area of Sambalpur district.
Informing the media, Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) Trinath Patel said that the incident took place on August 31 when the Sambalpur police during checking near Ramapada Chhak in Rengali searched a police vehicle on suspicion and seized 21 kg of ganja. Purna Chandra Patra, a driver of the GRP in Jharsuguda, was later arrested.
During interrogation, police came to know about the involvement of Ashrit Pradhan, a GRP constable of Jharsuguda, in the illegal trade.
As a disciplinary measure, both of them have been dismissed from service, he added.
