Bhubaneswar: Following allegations of tax evasion, the GST officials conducted simultaneous raids on 10 different places in Odisha on Friday.
As per reports, 10 teams of the officials of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) carried out the raids on stone crusher units of mine owners in Bhubaneswar, Chandikhol and Jajpur. The allegations related to mining operations.
The mine owners have reportedly evaded taxes to the tune of several crores in their business transactions, the sources said. Besides the crusher units, their houses and offices were also raided by the GST officials, they added.
The GST officials checked several document including balance sheet, bills, receipts and papers of business transactions of the miners during the raid.
It may be noted that the GST officials had carried out multiple raids on the premises linked to a BJD leader in Nayagarh district on April 3. Earlier on March 29, they had raided a reputed private coaching centre in Bhubaneswar.
