Balangir: A team of Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials carried out raid at the premises of a textile dealer at Kantabanji in Odisha’s Balangir district on Wednesday.
The team, led by Balangir GST Deputy Commissioner Kishore Chandra Meher raided Khuas Textile of Rohit Khuas at Ward No. 9 of Kantabanji over allegations of tax evasion, sources said.
Meher said the team members checked stocks at the cloth store and its godown and collected details on the transactions and certain documents.
As per the direction of CT and GST Commissioner in Odisha, the eight-member team of officials from Balangir along with the local police raided the textile store, he said.
The search operation was conducted to check their stocks and collect details on their transactions in connection with the allegations of tax evasion. Necessary steps will be taken if there are any irregularities regarding the payment of GST, he said.
