Bhubaneswar: Almost a month after recovery of a huge consignment of gold and silver, the Commercial Tax and Goods & Service Tax (CT-GST) personnel seized 20 kg of gold from businessmen at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Odisha capital on Thursday night.
According to sources, the businessmen arrived in Bhubaneswar in a IndiGo flight from Mumbai. The GST invoices, bills and delivery certificate have revealed discrepancies with regards to 4 kg of the total gold seized. While businessmen are being questioned, the gold is said to have been brought from Rajasthan.
On August 26, two cash vans of a logistics company, carrying 50 kg gold and 200 kg silver ornaments, were intercepted by GST officials near the airport here. The consignment was reportedly transported from Mumbai to be delivered to various jewellery stores in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Four persons travelling in the vans were also detained and questioned.
