Sambalpur: Even as people rushed to jewellery shops to purchase gold ornaments on the occasion of Dhanteras on Tuesday, a team of CT & GST conducted raid on three such shops in Odisha’s Sambalpur.
According to sources, the raids were carried out by different personnel of the team simultaneously. All the three jewellery shops, located at Marwari Bazaar, belonged to one businessman in the city.
During the raid, the CT & GST team took stock of the jewellery in the shops and cross-checked with the document. They also verified other documents necessary for gold trade, the sources said.
Tekchand Meher, deputy commissioner, CT&GST confirmed the raid to the media but did not reveal the details. The raids were carried out to ascertain several aspects, he said adding that the details would be informed after the completion of the raids.
