Talcher: A team of GST officials carried out simultaneous raids on the premises of a businessman near Talcher town in Odisha’s Angul district on Tuesday.
Sources said a 15-member team is engaged in the raids being conducted by the enforcement wing of the Cuttack CT & GST at the house, shop and godown of a trader dealing in tyres at Talcher and nearby Kumunda.
The raid is being conducted after certain discrepancies were detected during scrutiny of the GST return filed by the trading establishment recently, they said.
The GST officials are examining the account books, tax statements and other document in the shop of B B Traders to detect any discrepancies in tax evasion.
The team would also check the stock and relevant document on payment of taxes.
This apart, the bills issued to the consumers would also be verified by the GST team. The GST authorities would take appropriate steps on the basis of the report that would be submitted by the enforcement team after the raids, the sources added
