Cuttack: GST officials carried out simultaneous raids on various locations of a commercial establishment, including two sanitary godowns, in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Tuesday.
According to sources, the raids are underway in OMP Sai Nagar of Chauliaganj area as part of a drive to detect alleged tax evasion.
Four teams comprising around 20 officers are conducting the raids at four locations of “Panchamukhi Sanitary”. The raids are in progress at the principal place of business, two godowns and house of the owner, said an officer of the enforcement wing of CT & GST, Cuttack.
There have been allegations about GST fraud against the business establishments
The team members are checking the account books, tax statements and other document to detect any discrepancies in GST evasion. The team would also check the stock and relevant document on payment of taxes in all the shops, an official said.
Besides, the bills issued to the consumers are also being verified by the GST team, he said
The GST authorities would take appropriate steps on the basis of the report that would be submitted by the enforcement team after the raids, he added.
