Nuapada; Teams of the Commissionerate of State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) on Monday launched simultaneous raids on two major jewellery shops in Khariar village of Nuapada District.
As per reports, two gold jewellery shops belonging to Govind Agrawal and Umesh Agrawal in Khariar were raided by GST Department personnel, led by Nuapada GST unit Deputy Commissioner Priyabrata Gadtia.
Describing the alleged tax evasion modus operandi, Gadtia said, several documents seized during the raids showed that the two gold merchants transacted their business betwen July 2017 and 2021 without paying GST.
The investigation is underway, he added.
