Guardians Lock Up Model School After Teacher Beats Students In Odisha’s Gajapati District

Paralakhemundi: A day after several students were injured due to thrashing by sports teacher, the guardians locked up the school in protest on Saturday.

As per reports, sports teacher of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya at Lingipur under Gosani block of the district went on a spree of beating the students on Friday. At least 16 students sustained injuries while one of them was admitted to hospital.

Agitated over the action of the sports teacher, the guardians accompanied by the students locked up the main gate of the school. They demanded stern action against the teacher.

On being informed, a team from Garabandh police station led by IIC Govind Gauda, BDO Nilamadhab Majhi, ABEO Sivaji Kanhar went to the school and held a discussion with the agitating guardians.

On the direction of the officials, the sports teacher tendered apology in writing and promised that he would not repeat such act in future. They also assured the guardians that they would recommend for transfer of the teacher from the school.

Following this, the guardians called off their agitation and opened the gates of the model school.
