Guided Self-Study For UG, PG Students In Odisha From This Academic Session

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department has decided to introduce ‘Blended Learning’ in the form of ‘Guided Self-Study’ at under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) level from 2020-21 academic session.

The decision was taken after the Minister of Higher Education held a meeting through video-conference with Vice-Chairperson of Odisha State Higher Education Council, secretary and senior officials of the department.

As per the decision, 25 per cent of the syllabus of both UG and PG students will be covered by ‘Blended Learning’. Fir UG students, the entire second unit (25 per cent of total four units) of each subject and paper is earmarked for self-study.

In case of PG students, respective departments will earmark 25 per cent of the syllabus for self-study.

For the portion earmarked for self-study, no calssroom teaching will be held. A synergetic combination of text books and e-learning resources will be prescribed to the students.

However, the teachers will take classes for four hours to clear the doubts of the students in physical classroom mode. Mid-term internal assessment will be held to ensure that the students take the self-study seriously.
