Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police has issued a set of guidelines to ensure peaceful and safe Holi celebration in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on March 15 (Saturday).
Revellers have been advised to avoid consuming liquor during the celebration and warned against creating ruckus on the streets under the influence of alcohol.
To prevent drowning incidents, they have been asked not to venture into water bodies in an inebriated condition. Parents of the youths have been asked to sensitise them to not take risks by going into the water bodies or engage in any violent face-off during Holi.
All water bodies/river ghats in the twin cities where such instances had taken place in the recent years will be guarded by the police along with Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Odisha Fire and Emergency Service teams to prevent any untoward incidents.
Strict action will also be taken against anyone found driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police in Cuttack city have asked people to wrap up the celebration by 1 pm.
Altogether 22 and 20 platoons of police force have been deployed in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, respectively. The cops have also intensified patrolling at sensitive spots in the cities.
