Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police has arrested three men who were planning to supply illegal arms to criminals in Cuttack.
A special team from Lalbag police station arrested the three near Trishulia bridge on Monday night where they were planning to handover firearms to a group of criminals.
Five firearms, including three 9-mm pistols, and 30 rounds of live bullets were seized by police.
Those arrested are Milan alias Sujit Swain of Jagatsinghpur, Jitu alias Dibyaswarup Sahoo of Khurda and Saubhagya Jena of Jagatsinghpur district.
Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh told reporters that Milan had 15 cases against him, including murder and dacoity, at various police stations across the state. He was previously booked under the National Security Act (NSA) in Jagatsinghpur in 2019.
The other two also have cases against them.
Police said Milan used to live in Bhubaneswar and Puri under several aliases and was involved in supplying illegal weapons to criminals in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Puri and Khurda districts.
