Puri: Sevitors performed Sakala Dhupa of Lord Jagannath and his siblings atop the chariots parked outside the Gundicha Temple in Puri on Wednesday morning.
The sibling deities spent the night on their respective chariots after reaching the shrine last evening. They will be carried to the Adapa Mandap of the temple in a ceremonial procession (Goti Pahandi) at 4 pm after Sandhya Alati and Dhupa.
The temple has been decked up with flowers and the entrance being decorated with jhoti chita (a traditional Odia white art) to welcome the deities.
Madan Mohan Ramakrushna will initially be ushered into the Gundicha Temple followed by Chakraraj Sudarshan. Subsequently, the eldest of the deities Lord Balabhadra, followed by Devi Subhadra and finally Lord Jagannath will enter the temple and placed on the Ratna Singhasan (golden throne) of the ‘Adapa Mandap’.
Odisha DGP Abhay on Wednesday urged people not to visit Puri and informed that devotees will not be allowed darshan of the deities.
After successful completion of Rath Yatra, the district administration had lifted curfew from several places in the district on Tuesday evening. However, the restrictions are still in force in areas adjacent to Gundicha temple like the stretch from Badasankha Bus Stand to Matiapada Chhak till 10 pm on Wednesday.
