Bhubaneswar: Trinath Gomango, the BJD MLA from Gunupur in Rayagada, on Monday resigned from the ruling party.
Speaking to the media outside Naveen Niwas here, Gomango said that the party had let him down by taking out an procession of aspirants in Gunupur while he was in the Odisha capital.
He said that the party ignored him and instead projected Raghunath Gamango as a probable candidate from the seat for 2019 elections.
The Gunupur MLA further alleged that he had apprised the BJD president Naveen Patnaik about his grievance which was never addressed.
In 2014 elections, Gomango had polled in 59,527 votes and defeated his nearest rival Purusattam Gomango of Congress by a slim 7,386 votes.
