Gurugram: A woman motorcyclist was flung from her bike after a car reportedly struck her on Golf Course Road in Gurugram and sped off without offering help. The rider said the car’s occupants had been pursuing her group since the beginning of their ride and refused to keep their distance even when she asked them to.
The rider, who identifies as Sia and operates the Instagram page rebelwheels_sia_, was on her Aprilia RS 457 with other bikers when the crash occurred. She posted a video of the incident online along with her version of events leading up to the collision.
‘They Chased From Start’
Sia said the men in the car looked drunk and became aggressive soon after the ride began. She asked them to keep their distance, but they told her to stop her bike instead. She kept riding to avoid being blocked, while a friend behind tried to shield her from the car.
She alleged the car kept following her until the driver tried to cut in front, hitting her bike and throwing her onto the road. The driver did not stop to check on her and drove away immediately. The entire incident was recorded on an action camera mounted on her bike.
Friend Catches Car At Signal
Sia said one of her friends chased the car after the crash and managed to catch up with it at a traffic signal. Her friend confronted the driver and told him the crash was his fault, but the driver reportedly denied responsibility and drove off again before further action could be taken.
Plea To Gurugram Police
In her video, Sia called on Gurugram Police to crack down on drivers who endanger others and then flee. She posted the car’s registration number and the owner’s name, urging authorities to track down the driver.
“I have nothing to say, but today I felt unsafe on Gurugram roads. People like these aren’t afraid of hitting people and running away,” Sia said in her video.
Online Outrage Grows
The video went viral quickly, with many users tagging Gurugram Police, Gurugram Traffic Police, Delhi Police and Haryana Police, demanding the driver be traced and punished, as reported by The Economic Times.
Several praised her for wearing proper riding gear, saying it likely reduced her injuries. Others called for the driver’s licence to be cancelled and legal action taken; one user said the driver’s phone was switched off. Many flagged the incident as part of a bigger safety concern for women riders in Gurugram.
As of now, Gurugram Police have not confirmed any action against the driver named in the video.
