New Delhi: Hafiz Talha Saeed, the son of 28/11 Mumbai attack mastermind, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, recently launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and vowed to ‘liberate Kashmir’ from India.
Talha delivered the provocative speech at a rally in Lahore on Pakistan’s so-called ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ on February 5, demanding the release of his jailed father, reported India Today.
Calling Modi a ‘shaitan’(devil), Talha told the gathering: “I want to warn PM Modi that Kashmir belongs to Muslims, and we will take Kashmir from you at any cost. It will be a part of Pakistan Muslim India soon.”
Questioning the legitimacy of his father’s imprisonment, Talha demanded that the Pakistani government review its policies and release Hafiz from prison.
“Hafiz Saeed is not guilty, why is he suffering in jail?” Talha asked, urging Pakistan to rectify what he characterised as an unjust imprisonment.
Talha’s speech also included a firm defence of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the terror group founded by his father which carried out the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Despite global condemnation and designation of LeT as a terrorist organisation by the United States and United Nations, Talha said it was “propaganda” to tarnish his father’s image.
Hafiz, the founder of LeT and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), has been implicated in the planning and execution of multiple attacks in India, including the November 26, 2008 siege on Mumbai, which left over 160 people dead.
Saeed was sentenced to 78 years in prison for terror-related offences in Pakistan, with another 31-year sentence handed in 2022.
