Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph for 15 districts of Odisha till Monday morning.
This weather condition may prevail at one or two places in Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
Hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Balangir, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput and Kandhamal. There is also a forecast for thunderstorm at some places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nuapada and Malkangiri. Light to Moderate rain may also occur at a few places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Malkangiri and Ganjam during this period.
Yellow warning continues for next 4 days with thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely at some places in five districts on Monday.
The MeT office further said that there will be no large change in day temperature at many places in the state and the mercury is likely to hover around 42 degree Celsius and more at one or two places in Interior Odisha during the next 5 days.
By 2.30 pm, Sambalpur was the hottest in Odisha at 43.7 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda (42), Hirakud (41.8) and Bhubaneswar (39).
