Bhubaneswar: Due to norwester activities, 7 districts of Odisha will experience hailstorm and gusty surface wind in next 24 hours.
In its evening bulletin on Saturday, the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar issued orange warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Ganjam districts.
Thunderstorm with lightening, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely at one or two places in these districts in next 24 hours, the IMD said.
It advised the people to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Harvesting of Rabi crops may be regulated judicially, it added.
The Met office also issued yellow warning and stated that thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely at one or two places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri,
Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda,
Nayagarh and Gajapati districts.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Deogarh,
Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Boudh during the period.
