Ujjain: No one wants any mercy for the auto rickshaw driver accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.
Not even Bharat Soni’s father, who has demanded capital punishment for him. The local bar association, on the other hand, appealed that no lawyer should defend the accused in court, reported PTI.
“It is a shameful act. Neither have I gone to hospital to meet him, nor will I go to the police station or courts. My son has committed a crime, therefore he should be hanged,” his father told newspersons here.
Soni was arrested on Thursday, three days after the minor girl was found walking on the city streets in and injured and devastated state.
Medical examination established that she had been raped.
A counsellor who interacted with her found out that the girl hails from Satna district in Madhya Pradesh. But she could not tell her name or address properly.
The girl is being treated at the Government Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar Women’s Hospital, where she underwent a major surgery three days ago.
Soni tried to escape when he was being taken to the crime spot for investigation, and got injured.
Ujjain Bar Council president Ashok Yadav said the incident had damaged the reputation of the temple city.
“We are appealing to our members not to take up the case of the accused,” he said.
