Mumbai: The makers of ‘Hanuman Ansh’, a film inspired by the life and teachings of spiritual figure Neem Karoli Baba, have confirmed a sequel to the film.
Director Vishal Chaturvedi recently announced ‘Hanuman Ansh 2’ while interacting with audiences at a multiplex in Agra.
According to Hindustan Times, he revealed that the upcoming instalment will explore significant and lesser-known chapters from Neem Karoli Baba’s life and spiritual journey.
Vishal shared that the sequel will begin by exploring Maharaj Ji’s birthplace, Firozabad, before tracing his journey to Agra, Mathura and other locations.
He is also expected to shed light on how and why Neem Karoli Baba travelled to these places during his spiritual journey. Further details about ‘Hanuman Ansh 2’ are awaited.
Neem Karoli Baba was a Hindu spiritual teacher and a devoted follower of Lord Hanuman.
His birth name is generally believed to have been Lakshman Narayan Sharma. He was reportedly born around 1900 in Akbarpur village in present-day Uttar Pradesh and passed away on September 11, 1973, in Vrindavan.
Several stories associated with Neem Karoli Baba involve accounts of miracles and extraordinary experiences, many of which were recounted by his devotees over the years.
As these accounts largely come from devotees’ recollections and oral traditions, they are generally regarded as part of the spiritual legacy surrounding him rather than independently verified historical events.
‘Hanuman Ansh’ had a modest start at the box office, reportedly earning around Rs 10 lakh on its opening day. However, the film gradually gained momentum as positive word of mouth brought more audiences to theatres.
Reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 2 crore, the film crossed the Rs 40 crore mark at the Indian box office within 24 days and has since surpassed Rs 50 crore. Its unexpected commercial success has made it one of the year’s notable sleeper hits.
The film has also received praise from several celebrities, including Kangana Ranaut and Madhur Bhandarkar, who have publicly appreciated the project.
