Cuttack: A case has been registered against Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty in Purighat police station for allegedly misbehaving with a woman journalist.
In the complaint, the woman journalist said that Anubhav’s brother, Anuprash, had been harassing her for the last two years. To redress her grievance, she had gone to the MP’s house in Cuttack on the night of June 12, when he allegedly abused her.
She further alleged that the MP spit on her and pushed her out of his house in presence of his wife and actor Barsha Priyadarshini.
“Anubhav’s brother has been harassing me since last two years and passing lewd comments. I am a mother of a child and doing my journalism from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Anubhav should be punished for misbehaving with me. His brother should be taken to task,” she told mediapersons here on Friday.
The woman journalist later lodged a complaint with the Puri Ghat Police station. On the basis of the complaint, police have registered a case (No:118/2019) under section 294, 354 (a), 323 and 34 of the IPC.
Refuting the allegations as baseless, Anubhav said that someone has hatched a conspiracy against him. He said he had informed the police as the woman created ruckus outside his residence.
“The people of Odisha know me very well. They know how much respect I have for them,” he added.
