Berhampur: A hardcore criminal sustained bullet injuries during an encounter with the police nabbed after an encounter with police near Khajuria overbridge on the outskirts of Berhampur city in Odisha’s Ganjam district late on Wednesday night.
The criminal identified as Kalia Sahu alias Musa, who sustained bullet injury on his left leg, was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
Police seized a country-made pistol and two live bullets from his possession.
Talking to media persons, Additional SP, Berhampur, Shantanu Das said acting on a tip-off that Kalia was on the way to Gopalpur with one of his associates, a special police squad followed him. On seeing the police, Kalia opened fire to which the police retaliated in which a bullet hit his left leg.
He said Musa is involved in several criminal activities including the bomb blast on a liquor shop in the city on August 4 last year.
