Rayagada: Police on Sunday arrested a hardcore Maoist, identified as Sikunu Sikaka (31), from the Niyamgiri hills in Rayagada.
Sikaka belongs to Mayabali village in the district.
Acting on tip-off, Kalyansingh police conducted a raid and arrested him.
Notably, Sikaka is a cadre under the Bansadhara Ghumushar Nagavalli division of CPI (Maoist) organisation.
He has been reportedly involved in attack and vandalisation of a contractual camp on February 10, 2017, said the sources.
He was involved in putting up Maoist posters and banners in the area and recruiting young boys and girls of the Dongria Kondh tribe of Niyamgiri hills.
He was also providing logistic support and collecting financial assistance for other Maoists.
