Mumbai: After witnessing the impressive box-office collection and overwhelming response of fans for his film ‘Sanam Teri Kasam,’ which re-released on February 7, actor Harshvardhan Rane is now quite keen on its second installment.
The actor has even stated that he is ready to fast for 11 days to convince the makers for a sequel to the film.
Sharing a video clip, in which the audience is seen cheering, hooting, and even crying, the actor wrote, “I went below the producer’s office to request for re-release, now next step I will do a 11 day (water only) fast below his office to request him for Part –2.”
He added, “9 years ago, the Producer gave it his blood, director gave it his sweat, Mawra gave it her soul, and now you gave it your tears !! I will give my life for part-2, Tumhaari Kasam (I swear on you).”
According to Sacnilk, the film has recorded the biggest weekend for a Bollywood re-release and has minted ₹18.50 crore till date.
When asked if he expected the film to perform well upon re-release, Harshvardhan told Free Press Journal, “It is a very soothing feeling. This makes you believe in what Shah Rukh Khan sir said (in Om Shanti Om), ‘Agar sab thik na ho toh woh the end nahi hai, picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.’ I could resonate with that dialogue after nine years of trying, failing, and still trying again. So, it is like a soothing ointment and justifies the dialogue that Farah ma’am had in the film.”
Written and directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, the romantic drama was initially released in 2016.
Made on a budget of ₹14 crore, the film failed to impress the audience and turned out to be a dud by minting only ₹9.1 crore at the box-office.
However, on its re-release, the film surpassed its original domestic collection in just two days.
