Chandigarh: Following the incident of a stalker shooting dead a 21-year-old woman outside her college in Faridabad, Haryana government is mulling to bring a law against interfaith marriages, according to state home minister Anil Vij.
Vij’s comment came a day after Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath vowed to bring a law to regulate such relationships.
“Haryana is thinking of bringing a law against love jihad,” Vij tweeted. Hindu activists use the term Love jihad to describe relationships between Hindu women and Muslim men.
According to Vij, the state government was concerned after final-year commerce student Nikita Tomar was shot dead by her stalker Touseef Ahmad following a botched up kidnap attempt outside her college in Ballabhgarh.
