New Delhi: Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Sunday tweeted that he was given the first dose of the COVAXIN vaccine and was aware antibodies develop 14 days after the second dose is given. His testing positive after taking the vaccine has raised a lot of eyebrows.
He was the first volunteer of Bharat Biotech’s phase-3 trial in Haryana and was administered a dose on November 20. The second dose is given after 28 days. Around 25,800 volunteers are participating in this study across the nation.
Vaccine or placebo?
There is a 50 per cent possibility that Vij has been given a placebo, and not the vaccine. These studies need to be unblinded to be effective.
The 67-year-old BJP leader is currently admitted in a hospital.
Bharat Biotech has also issued a clarification on concerns over Covaxin, stating that its effectiveness will be known after a second dose is given.
