New Delhi: Even as hundreds of people gathered for the Hindu Samaj Mahapanchayat at Gurugram’s Tighar village in the aftermath of the communal clash at Nuh on July 31, an illegally built hotel-cum-restaurant which was used by hooligans to pelt stones during the recent violence in Nuh was demolished by the district administration said.
Officials believe that the violence in Nuh began on Monday after some people pelted stones at a religious procession from the roof of the Sahara Hotel. As a mob attacked the procession with stones, the 2,500-plus participants rushed into a temple to take shelter.
Nearly a dozen shops, including medical stores, had been razed on Saturday. Shanties of migrants living in Tauru, about 20 km away from violence-hit Nuh, had been razed earlier this week for encroaching on government land, NDTV reported.
The communal clash that broke out in Haryana’s Nuh on July 31 led to a total of six people being dead, 206 people arrested, and over 100 FIRs being registered. The clash which erupted when a mob tried to stop an attack a procession of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) soon spread out to the neighbouring Gurugram’s Sohna, Manesar, among others.
The Haryana government in a fresh statement has alleged that the attack on a cyber crime police station in Nuh that also took place on July 31 was done with a motive to destroy evidence in a massive fraud that was discovered earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, a murder case was filed against AAP Haryana leader Javed Ahmed for the killing of Bajrang Dal’s Pradeep Sharma during the violence that broke out in Nuh. An FIR was registered by the Haryana Police on Sunday.
